Scotch Tasting this Thursday and more….

3 Jun

Colonial Liquor will be sponsoring a Scotch Tasting this Thursday, June 5 at Flaherty’s Restaurant in Honeoye Falls. My hope is that this becomes an annual event that will include bourbon and select wines . This inaugural gathering is a no-charge event though tickets (available at Colonial Liquor) are required for entrance.

We begin seating at 3:00 and the first pour will be at 3:30. Six single malts, one blend, and one liqueur will be offered at about ten minute intervals. Jonathan Ferrante will be speaking on the Gordon and MacPhail products and I’ll handle the others. Plenty of water and salty snacks will be available. Discounts on the sample products will be offered to attendees. Hope to see some new faces.

The Triple Crown concludes this Saturday and a record crowd is expected at Belmont Park to see if California Chrome can become the first triple crown winner in 36 years. Current form says he should get the job done but 13 before him have tried and failed. And five of those appeared unbeatable. My magic eight ball says he gets beat but I don’t know by who. A sloppy racetrack could be his biggest adversary.

We’ll try new shooter Tonalist. He should be in front early in the race and although his breeding suggests the mile and a half distance of the Belmont Stakes to be too far, he comes from top connections and has already won over the Belmont strip.

May they all get home safely.
